Jewish Federations Praise Increase of Nonprofit Security Grants

Washington, D.C. – During the markup for the Homeland Security Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2016 today, the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Committee approved the addition of $600 million for Urban Area Security Initiative grants, including an increase to $25 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program. The Jewish Federations of North America applauded the committee’s actions, noting that at a time of increased anti-Semitic activity in the U.S. and abroad, it is even more important to provide protection for Jewish communities.

Jewish Federations Hail Final Passage of Bill Elevating Israel as “Strategic Partner”

Washington, D.C. – Following the final passage of legislation declaring Israel to be a “major strategic partner” of the United States, American Jewish organizations celebrated the bill as furthering the ironclad commitment between the two countries. The Jewish Federations of North America hailed the importance of the bill, which would designate a unique strategic status for Israel and create a framework for increased cooperation in defense, energy and other sectors.

Jewish Federations Applaud Senate Bill Elevating Israel as “Major Strategic Partner”

After months of delays, the U.S. Senate approved legislation aimed at strengthening the already unbreakable bond between Israel and the United States, including declaring the Jewish state a “major strategic partner.” The Jewish Federations of North America praised the Senate for their unanimous approval of the United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014 (S.2673), stating that the bill takes tremendous steps to cement one of the U.S.’s strongest relationships.
