The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is pleased to announce a generous grant from Marc and Michelle Gary to its Rabbinic Training Institute, a popular annual professional development program for rabbis in the field. The grant will provide scholarships for a limited number of women rabbis to enroll in the esteemed weeklong program for half the usual tuition. Marc Gary is executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer of JTS and Michelle Kravtin Gary is an attorney. Mr. Gary came to JTS from his most recent post as executive vice president and general counsel of Boston’s Fidelity Investments, one of the world’s largest providers of financial services. Previously, he rose to the position of executive vice president and general counsel at BellSouth Corporation in Atlanta, and for almost 20 years, was a partner and national litigation practice co-chair in the Washington DC office of Mayer Brown & Platt, an international law firm. Ms. Kravtin Gary is also a community volunteer active on the boards of the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee, and a former teacher in the Gateways program for Jewish youth with special needs. The couple and their family are longtime supporters of the Conservative Movement.
