Jewish Federations Praise Increase of Nonprofit Security Grants

Washington, D.C. – During the markup for the Homeland Security Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2016 today, the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Committee approved the addition of $600 million for Urban Area Security Initiative grants, including an increase to $25 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program. The Jewish Federations of North America applauded the committee’s actions, noting that at a time of increased anti-Semitic activity in the U.S. and abroad, it is even more important to provide protection for Jewish communities.

Jewish Federations Applaud Senator Mikulski Upon Retirement

Washington, D.C. – Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) announced today that she will not seek re-election in 2016, marking an end to a career that saw her serve more time in Congress than any other woman in U.S. history. The Jewish Federations of North America congratulated Sen. Mikulski on her long and distinguished career, noting with pride her work on issues of importance to the Jewish community.

Jewish Federations Applaud Senate for Resolution Honoring Holocaust Survivors

In honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, the Senate passed with unanimous consent a resolution honoring the contributions of Holocaust survivors to the United States. The Jewish Federations of North America lauded the Senate for passing the resolution, noting with pride the work being done in coordination with the federal government to assist and provide for survivors living in need.
