AJC is appalled by the ongoing, targeted attacks on Egypt’s Coptic community. One of the oldest churches in Egypt, built in the 4th century, the Virgin Mary in Minya, was destroyed by fire Aug. 14, an Egyptian human rights activist has tweeted. Media have reported attacks on churches in in the city of Suez and churches in other villages were also attacked, according to media reports.

AJC is outraged by a new anti-Israel caricature in Stuttgarter Zeitung, a major German newspaper, that depicts Prime Minister Netanyahu poisoning a peace dove. Last month AJC took the lead in criticizing the German daily Sueddeutscher Zeitung for publishing a cartoon that depicted Israel as a monster with Germany as its handmaiden.
