Jewish Federations Praise Congress for Passage of Funding for Iron Dome

Washington, D.C. – The American Jewish community applauded Congress as requested emergency funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense program was approved nearly unanimously. The Jewish Federations of North America praised legislators for coming together to pass legislation supporting the Jewish state shortly after Hamas terrorists killed three Israeli soldiers, violating a ceasefire negotiated by the United States, United Nations and others.

“The U.S. Congress has the deepest gratitude not just of Israelis, but of all Americans who stand by Israel’s side,” stated William Daroff, senior vice president of public policy and director of the Washington office of Jewish Federations. “At this difficult time, it’s important to know that Israel has an unwavering ally in the United States. As important as the words of our nation’s leaders are, their deeds are needed even more. We applaud Congress for standing with Israel in its greatest hour of need and for remaining committed to keeping its citizens safe.”

The Jewish Federations, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).
