CLEVELAND (Jan. 16) – In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Cleveland Jewish community, Rabbi Hal Rudin-Luria was awarded the 2013 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. This award was established by Donna and the late Bennett Yanowitz to recognize and honor an outstanding young individual who has demonstrated commitment, involvement and leadership within Cleveland’s Jewish community. Donna Yanowitz presented the award to Rabbi Rudin-Luria at the Federation’s Board meeting on January 15.
“I’m honored to be forever connected to the Yanowitz family through this award; a family that leads with dignity to make a difference in our community and world,” Rudin-Luria said. “Being recognized as a young leader means that the seeds that have already been planted are now mine to tend. May we all continue to plant seeds, commitment, inspiration and passion for the next generation of Jewish leaders.”
Rabbi Rudin-Luria of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation, has been an active member of the Federation’s Young Leadership Division (YLD), including serving on its board, as well as on the Overseas Connections and Social Action Committees. He also served as Religious and Academic Division Chair for the Campaign for Jewish Needs. He served on the Jewish Federations of North America’s prestigious Young Leadership Council, serves on the board of Gross Schechter Day School, and is the current President of the Greater Cleveland Board of Rabbis.
As recipient of the Yanowitz Award, Rabbi Rudin-Luria will be invited to join the Cleveland delegation to a General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America.
